Your Best Year Ever
Amed, Bali
This is my last post of the year. It’s also my shortest (you’re welcome).
In Anthony DeMello’s classic Awareness he tells the story of a Russian farmer whose farm was on the border between Russia and Finland. “One day the border commission came and said, 'We’ve decided that your farm is no longer in Russia, it’s in Finland.'
The farmer can’t believe his good luck, 'Oh, thank God!’ He says, ‘I don’t think I could have stood another one of those Russian winters!'"
You can spend a lot of time reading self-help literature, listening to influencer podcasts and filling your head with what habit is best, what vitamin really-really slows aging, or, ironically, how to better use your time.
Or do something.
We are all - as DeMello puts it - “crazy human beings” waiting for the perfect solution, best research, or ideal timing. Meanwhile time marches on and nothing happens until we do something.
My wish is for you to have your best year ever because you made it so.
See you in the New Year.
This year I completely updated my book Give Me a Break. After some 10 years and over 40,000 copies sold it was time to rip out the plumbing, tear down some walls, and bring some new light on how to make everyday just a little better. Grab a copy here.
